HJ 596.7-2010 "Water Quality Vocabulary Part VII" is a standard formulated to implement the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Environment Protection" and "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution", protect the environment and human health, and standardize water quality terminology. This standard is revised from the "Water Quality Vocabulary Parts I and II" (GB 6816-86) and "Water Quality Vocabulary Parts III to VII" (GB 11915-89) issued in 1986 and 1989. It was first drafted by the China Environment Monitoring Station and is now being revised for the first time. This part contains terms and definitions specifically designed to describe water quality characteristics, using the equivalent terms of the international standard "Water Quality Vocabulary Part 7" (ISO 6107.7-2006) and their English counterparts. Since March 1, 2011, this standard has abolished the old version of the national environment protection standards issued on October 10, 1986 and December 25, 1989, and is responsible for the formulation and interpretation by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the Ministry of environment protection.
