The standard specifies a method for the measurement of insulation resistance, surface resistivity and volume resistivity of electrical insulating coatings using the high resistivity meter method. The scope of application includes various electrical insulating coatings. The main points of the method are to apply a DC voltage to the electrode so that it is close to the surface of the sample. Using a high resistivity meter to measure the weak current flowing through the surface or volume of the sample, to determine the insulation resistance, surface resistance and volume resistance, and to calculate its surface resistivity and volume resistivity. The required instrumentation includes a high resistivity meter and an electrode. The high resistivity meter should have characteristics such as multi-speed test voltage, resistance test range, zero point drift limit, etc., while the electrode is used to apply to the surface of the sample.
