The ISO 22987 "Ships and marine technology - laboratory test method for anti-fouling paint surface friction - drum method" standard specifies a laboratory test method for the determination of anti-fouling paint surface friction by drum method. This method simulates the friction between the coating surface and the water flow when a ship is moving in water, and evaluates the abrasion resistance and anti-fouling effect of anti-fouling paint. The test simulates the contact between the hull surface and the water flow by placing a sample coated with anti-fouling paint in a swirl/spin drum, and measures the change in friction force. The standard provides a reliable experimental method for the performance evaluation of anti-fouling paints, which is widely used in the research and development, quality control and performance optimization of marine coatings to help improve the navigation efficiency and anti-fouling ability of ships.
