The ISO 17076-1 standard specifies a method for measuring the abrasion resistance of leather materials, which is tested by the Taber method. This method simulates the friction and abrasion of the material in actual use by applying a certain friction force to the leather surface using a special Taber abrasion instrument and contacting the leather surface through a swirl/spin grinding wheel. During the test, the wear resistance performance of the leather is evaluated according to the degree of abrasion. This method is widely used in the leather industry, especially in the production of products such as footwear, leather goods and automotive interiors, to ensure that the material can maintain a good appearance and performance in long-term use.
