ASTM D8115-17 (2021) is a standard test method for determining the abrasion resistance of rubber. This method uses a multi-directional platform abrasive tool. The method is suitable for various types of rubber, including but not limited to natural rubber, synthetic rubber, etc. During the test, the rubber sample is fixed to a multi-directional platform abrasive tool and then abrasion is performed through a swirl/spin grinding wheel. The speed and pressure of the grinding wheel can be adjusted to simulate the strain situation of the rubber in actual use. The standard specifies the test conditions, the requirements of the grinding wheel, and the steps of the test process. At the same time, it also provides methods for calculating and reporting the results.
