ASTM C779/C779M-19 is a standard test method for measuring the abrasion resistance of horizontal concrete surfaces. This method uses a device called a Taber Abrasion tester (Taber Abraser) to simulate the abrasion that concrete surfaces may encounter in actual use by swirling/spinning on the concrete surface. During the test, the concrete surface is fixed to a bracket and then abraded by a swirl/spin Taber Abrasion tester. The speed and pressure of the Taber Abrasion tester can be adjusted to simulate the strain of the concrete surface in actual use. The standard specifies the test conditions, the requirements of the Taber Abrasion tester, and the steps of the test process. At the same time, it also provides methods for calculating and reporting the results. This standard method is suitable for various types of horizontal concrete surfaces, including but not limited to bedrooms, hallways, garages, etc. By using this standard method, reliable abrasion resistance testing data can be obtained to provide reference for the design, production and use of concrete surfaces.
