The IEC 60721-2-1 standard classifies the temperature and humidity conditions that occur in nature. The standard aims to provide basic information for the selection of appropriate temperature and humidity intensities for product testing and application. The outdoor climate specified in the standard covers all parts of the world, but excludes the Central Antarctic and Highlands (above 5000 meters) areas. These classifications can be used as basic information when developing climate classifications for applicable products. The standard classifies outdoor climate into several categories to represent the temperature and humidity conditions most commonly exposed during transport, storage, installation and use.
