ASTM D1709-22 is an important international standard specifically used to determine the Impact performance of Plastic films by the free drop dart method. This method determines the critical Impact energy that causes 50% of the specimen to break by progressively increasing the weight of the drop dart. The standard provides two test methods (Method A and Method B), which are suitable for materials in different Impact Mass ranges, and can meet the testing needs of a variety of thin film materials. During the test, the thin film specimen is clamped in an annular fixture, and the drop dart falls from a fixed height to the center of the Impact specimen, so as to evaluate the impact resistance of the film in actual use. Plastic films are widely used in quality control, performance evaluation and new product development, especially in the field of Encasement materials.
