ASTM D3420-21 《Standard Test Method for Pendulum Impact Resistance of Plastic Film》 Related products

ASTM D3420-21 is a standard test method for the impact resistance of Plastic films to pendulum. This standard specifies the ability of Plastic films to resist impact perforation by means of a pendulum impact test. Impact performance of the film is assessed by measuring the mechanical work lost when the pendulum impacts and penetrates the center of the specimen. The test consists of two procedures: Procedure A (diameter 60 mm) and Procedure B (diameter 89 mm, also known as the "Spencer" procedure). This method is suitable for a variety of Plastic films, such as polypropylene (PP), linear low Density polyethylene (PE), etc., but does not involve the energy absorption and post-yield behavior of the specimen under Impact loading, nor does it specify the non-environment temperature. The test results can be used to evaluate the dynamic Impact resistance performance of the film, especially in Encasement material applications.
