ISO 14993 is an international standard on corrosion of metals and alloys that specifies methods for accelerated corrosion testing (ACT) in salt contaminated environments. The standard assesses the corrosion performance of metallic materials by cyclic exposure to salt fog, drying and moisture conditions. Testing involves placing samples in a specific salt fog, drying (60 ° C, relative humidity < 30%) and moisture (50 ° C, relative humidity > 95%) environment for 8 hours each cycle. The standard applies to metallic materials with or without corrosion protection and is widely used in material development, quality control and corrosion resistance assessment.
