The ASTM D4699-23 standard specifies a method for the measurement of the vibrational packing density of large shaped catalysts and catalyst carrier particles. This method is suitable for extrudates, spherical or shaped particles with a diameter greater than 4.8 mm, which will not be significantly crushed under test conditions. The vibrational packing density is obtained by loading the sample into a container and applying vibration to make it reach a stable packing state. This standard is mainly used to evaluate the filling performance of catalysts in fixed bed reactors, dryers and other equipment, providing an important reference for the design, production and application of catalysts.
