The ISO 8254-1:2009 standard specifies a Measuring method for paper and Cardboard specular gloss, using the TAPPI method of 75 ° convergent beam of light. This method is mainly used for Spreader paper, but also for smooth unSpreader paper (such as super calendered paper). The standard measures the intensity of light reflected from the surface of paper by opticalin strument to assess its Glossiness. The measurement results help to evaluate the surface mass and printability of paper, but are not suitable for special materials such as cast coated paper, lacquered paper or high Gloss inks film.
