The ISO 15318:1999 standard specifies methods for determining the content of seven specific polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in pulp, paper and Cardboard. The standard applies to pulp, paper and Cardboard samples, both untreated and treated. It provides a uniform test method for the detection of PCBs that may be present in paper products. Appendix A also provides procedures for estimating the total PCB content from the content of PCB derivatives. This standard helps to assess the environmental safety of paper products and provides a quality control basis for relevant industries.
