The ISO 8791-1:1986 standard specifies a method for determining the asperity/smoothness of paper and Cardboard (Leakage Method). This method evaluates the asperity or smoothness of paper by measuring the amount of air that leaks through the surface of the paper. It is suitable for most papers and Cardboard, but not for embossed, creased or high vapor transmission rate papers. The standard provides the paper industry with a common surface performance test method that helps evaluate paper printability, Appearance mass and processing performance.
