The ISO 5263-1 standard specifies the wet disintegration of pulp laboratories Part 1: The disintegration method of chemical pulp. This method is used to assess the ability of chemical pulp to separate fibres by mechanical treatment in water. During the test, the pulp suspension is exposed to specified conditions for measurement of its degree of disintegration. The standard applies to all kinds of chemical pulp, including reused pulp, but not to mechanical pulp and some chemical pulps with very long fibres, such as cotton pulp or pulps made with similar substances. In addition, the standard does not apply to the disintegration of mechanical pulp.
