The TAPPI T 824 standard specifies a test method for determining the compressive strength of the corrugated edges of corrugated base paper using the flexible beam method. This method measures the edge compressire strength of corrugated base paper by applying pressure parallel to the top direction of the corrugated paper in the laboratory preparation to evaluate the contribution of corrugated base paper to the overall compressive performance of corrugated cartons. During the test, a flexible beam compressor is used to apply pressure to the corrugated paper sample until it collapses to determine its edge compressive strength. It should be noted that the flexible beam method (TAPPI T 824) and the rigid support method (TAPPI T 843) differ in testing equipment and methods, and there may be differences in test results.
