The TAPPI T 230 standard specifies a method for the determination of Pulp viscosity, using the Capillary Viscometer method. This method calculates the viscosity by dissolving 0.5% cellulose solution in 0.5M copper ethylenediamine (CED) solvent and using the Capillary Viscometer to measure the flow time of the solution. This method is suitable for bleached cotton pulp and wood pulp, as well as conventional sulfate pulp (up to 4% lignin). Viscosity is an important indicator of pulp mass and can be used to evaluate the cellulose coalescence of pulp, the degree of beating, and the strength and processing performance of paper. This standard provides a uniform viscosity test method for the paper industry, ensuring Reliability of product mass and process control.
