The TAPPI T 459 standard specifies a method for measuring paper surface strength by a wax adhesion test method. It is suitable for unSpreader and Spreader papers, and aims to evaluate the bonding strength of paper surface fibers and their scratch resistance. This method judges the surface strength by dropping wax on the paper surface, chilling down the wax block and disbonding the paper surface fibers. This method is not suitable for loose felt paper (such as blotting paper or roof felt) or paper containing heat softening material. Wax adhesion testing is an important means for the paper industry to evaluate the suitability of paper printing. It is widely used in quality control and product development to help optimize paper performance and ensure that it does not lose powder and hair during the printing process.
