GB/T 4340.2-2025 "Metallic materials, Vickers Hardness test, Part 2: Hardness gauge inspection and calibrate" is a newly revised Vickers hardness testing standard in our country, equivalent to the international standard ISO 6507-2:2018, which will be officially implemented on October 1, 2025. The standard specifies the direct inspection method of Vickers hardness tester, indenter and diagonal measurement system, and the method of indirect inspection of the whole machine using standard Hardness blocks, suitable for conventional and portable Vickers hardness testers. Compared with the 2012 edition, the main technical changes include: adding a small test force range (0.009807 N to 0.09807 N) for calibrating requirements, simplifying the spindle position calibrating process, increasing measurement uncertainty assessment requirements, and adjusting the technical specifications of indentation measurement systems. The standard aims to improve the accuracy of Vickers Hardness testing in our country and promote compatibility with international standards. It is suitable for material performance testing and quality control in metallurgy, aerospace, military and other fields.
