This standard provides a variable sampling inspection method for metal and inorganic coating products for estimating the overall mass of large quantities of products. By taking a small number of samples from a production batch and measuring its coating properties, a batch is judged to be compliant with statistical methods. Sampling inspection allows for use when inspections are costly or Destructiveness testing is required. Choosing an appropriate sampling plan can control the risk of inspection errors and equilibrate inspection costs with the consequences of accepting a nonconforming product.
