This standard test method is used to evaluate the solderability of metallic coating products, especially for tin, tin-lead alloys, silver and gold coatings. The test uses an inactive rosin flux to solder with 60/40 tin/lead solder to ensure good soldering performance of the product during manufacturing. The standard states that the solderability of coatings is affected by many factors, including coating defects, contaminants, etc. The test method is simple and easy to implement. It is suitable for evaluating the solderability of products, but not for all special welding tests.
