The ASTM F1308-98 (2023) standard provides a quantitative test method for volatile extracts in food microwave receptors. The method is designed for the measurement of volatile compounds that may be released during the use of microwave receptor materials and to reduce these volatile matter by optimizing the base design or manufacturing process. The standard requires analysis using Gas chromatography, CG and appropriate detection technologies such as Mass Spectrometer to ensure Sensitivity and reproducibility of the method. For the identification of unknown volatile matter, techniques such as gas phase chromatograph/mass spectrometry can be combined. The test method is suitable for the quantification of known volatile compounds. At the same time, it is recommended to refer to relevant standards for method verification.
