The ASTM F1349-08 (2019) standard specifies a test method for the determination of non-volatile ultraviolet (UV) extractable components that migrate from microwave receptors to food mimetics such as corn oil and Miglyol 812. The method was studied using double-decked Cardboard, gluing agent, and polyethylene terephthalate (PETE) bases, covering the determination of non-polar and relatively polar UV-absorbing components. The test results can be used to evaluate the migration behavior of microwave receptors in actual use. Standard SI units should be considered as Standard values, and the user needs to establish appropriate safety specifications.
