ASTM D3611-06 (2019) Standard Practice provides a test method for accelerated aging of pressure-sensitive tapes. This method allows tapes to undergo the same degree of physical performance change in a short period of time as they do in two years of natural aging by simulating environmental conditions during natural aging. This accelerated aging test is used to assess the long-term performance of tapes in actual use and helps to reveal performance changes that may occur under normal use conditions. This standard applies to roll tapes, particularly Encasement-type tapes, but not to tapes in electronic applications. By combining physical property tests, changes in tape performance under accelerated aging can be effectively tracked.
