This standard practice describes an accelerated weathering method for pressure-sensitive tapes for use in Encasement. It primarily simulates the efflorescence process of pressure-sensitive tapes in a laboratory environment by means of a Xenon-arc exposure device. This method does not directly simulate prolonged outdoor exposure, so its results cannot be equivalent to those of a natural weathering test. The practice specifies sample prepative and its exposure environment, but does not address specific exposure times or follow-up testing. Operating conditions may affect results, so it needs to be operated within the equipment scope of Practice G151 and G155. Implementation of the standard helps to evaluate the performance of tapes under accelerated aging conditions.
