This standard provides two impact test procedures for assessing the impact protection capability of a transport container or transport unit. Procedure A tests the tolerance of the container or unit when subjected to impact, while Procedure B evaluates the protection effect of the Encasement on the contents. This test method simulates impact in manual and mechanical handling and helps to understand how the Encasement will perform during actual transport. The standard applies to various types of large or heavy-duty containers, but does not simulate a rail car environment. The tests meet the requirements of ISO 2244, but ISO 2244 may not be fully applicable.
