The ASTM F 2714-08 (2021) standard test method is used to analyze the Oxygen content in the headspace of an Encasement by fluorescence attenuation. This method is suitable for Modified Atmosphere Encasement (MAP) and other sealing Encasements and enables the measurement of the oxygen concentration in the headspace without compromising the integrity of the Encasement. Oxygen content is critical for product deterioration and odor, so this method can be used to study the permeability of Encasement materials, detect Encasement leaks, evaluate the effectiveness of the MAP Encasement process, and conduct storage studies. By measuring oxygen attenuation, Encasement performance can be monitored and optimized to ensure product mass and safety.
