The ASTM F 2227-13 (2021) standard test method uses the CO2 tracer gas method for nondestructive detection of leaks in non-sealing and empty Encasement trays. This method is suitable for detecting pinholing or cracking on trays as small as 50 microns, and is effective in identifying potential invasions of harmful organisms or particulate contaminants. This method can be used in a laboratory or production environment, is easy to operate, and the test results are prompted by sound or visual signals. Although it may not be fast enough in production online, it is very suitable for its application in statistical testing and Encasement design. The values specified in the standard are in SI units, and the values in parentheses are for reference only.
