The ASTM C1184-2014 standard specification defines performance requirements for structural silicone sealants. These sealants are used for components of gluing structural Glass systems to meet physical, mechanical, and performance property requirements, including rheological properties, extrusion, Hardness, heat aging, tack-free time, tensile adhesion, and shelf life. Sealants are classified in the specification (e.g., S-type, M-type, etc.) and evaluated against industry-recognized minimum standards. The standard provides performance requirements based on the ASTM test method, but also allows for testing with increased Miscellaneous properties as needed.
