This standard specifies a method of perimeter immersion testing in salt solutions to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metals and alloys. Applicable to metallic materials including aluminium and steel, the test can simulate the corrosion effect of seawater splash zones, deicing fluids and acidic salt environments. The standard is applicable to quality control and corrosion resistance assessment during alloy development, covering metallic materials with or without corrosion protection layers.
