The Volvo VCS 1027, 1449-0 standard is a universal climate corrosion test method for a wide variety of materials and coatings. The test evaluates the corrosion resistance of metals to the influence of chloride ions, mainly considering the effects of sodium salts of marine origin or road deicing salts. The test cycle is seven days, the first five days include cycles of alternating wet climate with spray of salt solution, as well as exposure to high temperature and high humidity environment. The last two days are exposure to a constant high temperature and high humidity environment. This test is used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the material in the actual use environment, and the number of cycles and total test time can be adjusted as needed.
