The Volvo VCS 1027 1375-0 standard is used to evaluate the long-term corrosion resistance of automotive components in accelerated corrosion testing (ACT), simulating the effects of marine environments or de-icing salts in winter. The test tests the corrosion resistance of metals and coatings in saline environments through steps such as salt fog spraying, drying and Humidity cycling. The standard includes different Humidity and Temperature cycles, combined with salt fog spraying, to ensure that the test accurately reflects the performance of the material in the actual environment. Miscellaneous surface coatings for other than automotive parts ensure that accelerated corrosion conditions are consistent with natural conditions.
