Specifies a method for the determination of resistance to filamentous corrosion of Paints and varnishes on aluminum substrates. This standard is mainly used to evaluate the protective ability of coatings against filamentous corrosion after scribe cutting. Filamentous corrosion usually occurs under specific environmental conditions, such as high Humidity or salinity environments, caused by trace acids, bases or salts under coatings. The standard updates the test procedures and measurement specifications, and clarifies new test conditions and methods, including the determination of the repeability of coatings, the shape of the scribe mark, and the application of the CASS test. This standard does not apply to predicting the performance of coatings on Miscellaneous substrates.
