The SAE J2412-2015 standard is issued by SAE International Society of Automotive Engineers for Test Methods for Accelerated Exposure of Automotive Interior Components by Controlling Irradiance Xenon-arc Devices. The method specifies operating procedures for accelerated exposure of various automotive interior trim components. The standard covers test durations as well as any exceptions to specimen preparation and performance evaluation procedures involved in the material specifications of different automobile manufacturers. Any deviation from this test method, such as the use of different filter combinations, shall be determined by consensus of the parties to the contract. The purpose of the standard is to evaluate the durability and performance of automotive interior components under accelerated exposure conditions by simulating the controlled irradiance of Xenon-arc lamps.
