This standard defines laboratory procedures for the generation and evaluation of filamentous corrosion on painted aluminum wheels and trims. Although primarily aimed at painted aluminum wheels and wheel eyebrows, it also applies to Miscellaneous components. The standard is intended to provide a uniform test method for the wheel and wheel trim industry, reducing the complexity and cost of testing procedures while increasing data mass. The procedure does not set performance standards for components, performance standards are determined by the test user or customer themselves, and defines methods and formats for recording proficiency.
