The ISO 14680-2:2000 standard describes a technique for determining the content of Coating pigments by ashing. This method is used to determine pigment content by high temperature ashing, but is not suitable for Coatings containing aluminium, organic pigments or dyestuff. The standard specifies the applicable test conditions and their limitations, in particular the effect on the results of ingredients that may be lost during ashing. Suitable for paints and varnishes without special additives, this method provides a reliable means for the analysis of pigment content.
