The ISO 12040-1997 standard provides an accelerated test method for evaluating the light fastness of printings and Printing inks by using filtrate Xenon-arc lamps. Light sources and filters are specified for simulating daylight, as well as exposure conditions for samples to artificial daylight, to speed up the light fastness test process. The method in the standard is consistent with ISO 2835, but provides a more accelerated test environment to more quickly assess the light fastness performance of printing materials in actual use.
