The ISO 24284-2022 standard defines a laboratory test method for evaluating the corrosion resistance of decorative chrome coatings in a de-icing salt environment. The standard is particularly applicable to nickel-chrome or copper-nickel-chrome exterior components, such as automotive trim. The test simulates the corrosion effects of de-icing salts (e.g. calcium chloride) used in winter and conductive slurries with high salt concentrations on chrome coatings. The standard provides relevant equipment, reagents and procedures designed to evaluate the durability of coatings under actual conditions of use, fill in the shortcomings of existing salt spray testing methods, and ensure the Reliability and long-lasting of decorative coatings.
