This standard describes a method for the determination of oxygen content in rare earth ferroalloys, suitable for samples with oxygen content ranging from 0.0050% to 0.60%. By heating and melting the sample with a flux, the oxygen reacts with carbon in the graphite crucible to generate a gas, and then uses an Infrared detector to detect carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide in the gas to determine the oxygen content. This method is efficient and accurate, and is suitable for quality control and analysis of rare earth ferroalloys.
