This standard specifies the Acetylacetone Spectrophotometric method, spec-trophotometry for the determination of formaldehyde content in water-based paints. It is suitable for water-based paints and their raw materials with formaldehyde content not less than 5mg/kg. A stable yellow complex is formed by the reaction of distillation and acetylacetone, and then Absorbance is measured at a wavelength of 412 nm to calculate the formaldehyde content to ensure the safety of formaldehyde in coatings and meet environmental standards.
