The standard specifies the basic composition of coating marks, including coating symbols, Coating Color or code, model or name, Appearance grade and use environmental conditions, etc., and uses dots "·" to connect each part. Compared with the 1983 version, this standard adjusts the structure and updates the marking method of pre-treatment. The standard was proposed by the State Administration of Work Safety and put forward by the painting operation branch of the National Technical Committee for Work Safety Standardization. It was issued on December 15, 2008 and officially implemented on October 1, 2009.
