The ISO 7784-1:2016 standard describes the abrasion resistance Measuring method for Paints and varnish, in particular the testing of swirl/spin specimens using a sandpaper-coated runner. The standard provides a standardized method for evaluating the durability of coatings under abrasion conditions. It specifies the procedure for abrasion testing swirl/spin specimens using a sandpaper-covered rubber wheel, and details the relevant test equipment and procedures. The second edition of this standard has been revised and updated compared to the first edition in terms of terminology definitions, graphical interpretation, test conditions and equipment calibrating. The three parts of ISO 7784 cover different abrasion test methods, including swirl/spin and linear reciprocating Test methods, to ensure a comprehensive assessment of coating abrasion resistance.
