This standard classifies the viscosity of internal combustion engine oils from a rheological point of view. It is suitable for determining the viscosity grade of internal combustion engine oils, and does not involve the Miscellaneous characteristics of oils. The standard describes in detail two sets of viscosity grade series with and without the letter W. Classified according to low temperature start-up, low temperature pumping viscosity and high temperature kinematic viscosity, providing a scientific basis for the selection and application of viscosity of internal combustion engine oils.
