The standard GB 23101.2-2008 Surgical implants, hydroxyapatite, Part 2: Hydroxyapatite coatings specifies technical requirements for hydroxyapatite Pottery and porcelain coatings for metallic and Non-metallic surgical implants. The standard does not apply to Glass, Glass Pottery and porcelain, Alpha and Beta-phosphoric acid tricalcium or Miscellaneous phosphoric acid calcium coatings, nor to hydroxyapatite coatings in powder form. The standard includes the manufacture of coatings, performance requirements and test methods to ensure their biocompatibility and coating strength in medical applications.
