This standard specifies the method for quantitatively determining the depth distribution, film thickness and platings mass of elements in nano and sub-micron scale films on the surface of steel by Glow discharge atomic emission spectroscopy (AES). Film thickness is between 3 nm and 1000 nm for metal coatings and oxide films. The elements that can be detected include iron, chromium, nickel, copper, titanium, aluminum, etc. This standard provides an important detection basis for corrosion protection and performance analysis of steel surface films.
