This standard specifies a specific method for the determination of copper content in tungsten concentrates using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). It is suitable for samples of tungsten concentrates with copper content in the range of 0.005% to 1.00%. Samples are first subjected to muriatic acid analysis, nitric acid and perchloric acid are added and heated to a thick white smoke, and then continue to be treated with nitric acid after chilling down. Absorption measurement of copper by air-acetylene flame in nitric acid medium using AtomicAbsorption Spectroscopy at 324.8 nm wavelength. Copper mass fraction is calculated according to the working Linear dispersion method. Miscellaneous impurities in tungsten concentrates do not interfere with the determination of copper. The required reagents and their preparation methods are also detailed in the standard.
