The ASTM G80-2007 standard provides an accelerated test method for evaluating cathode disbonding in an underground environment for exterior insulating coatings of steel pipes. This test is designed to determine the disbonding resistance of a coating system, especially in contact with natural soil and may or may not accept cathode protection. This method is suitable for coating pipe samples taken from commercial production to help evaluate the performance and durability of coatings. The standard specifies the test scope and conditions of use, and provides a dedicated test procedure for electrical barrier functional coatings.
