This standard specifies a method for the determination of oxidation mg content in aluminum oxide using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), with a determination range of 0.001% to 0.025%. Absorbance measurement in the presence of Releasing agent strontium salt is carried out using a PTFE container to dissolve the sample under thermostatic conditions. The aluminum oxide matrix may interfere with the determination, and the standard recommends adding equal amounts of aluminum oxide and Releasing agent strontium salt to the standard solution to reduce its effect.
