The GB/T 15555.1-1995 standard specifies a method for the determination of total mercury content in solid waste leaching solution using cold Atomic absirption spectroscopy-tometry, AAS. This method is suitable for the determination of mercury in solid waste, with a detection range of 0.2 to 50 μg/L and a minimum detection concentration of 0.05 μg/L. Samples are analyzed after conversion of mercury to divalent inorganic mercury by potassiumhy ganpermanate and potassium persulfate oxidation. The standard provides a scientific basis for environmental monitoring of mercury in solid waste and helps to assess the potential hazards of waste.
