The GB/T 223.77-1994 standard specifies a method for the determination of calcium content in steel and alloys by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The standard applies to the determination of calcium content in cast iron, carbon steel, alloy steel and superalloys, with a determination range of 0.0005% to 0.010%. After the sample is dissolved with muriatic acid and nitric acid, strontium dichloride is added as an interference inhibitor, and the calcium content is quantified by the measurement of Absorbance at a wavelength of 422.7 nm using a calcium Hollow cathode lamp. The standard provides technical support for the accurate determination of trace calcium in steel and alloys.
